Course Tour

The University Club is a 7,700 yard Par 72 Championship-Caliber course designed by David Toms and Jim Lipe. It was designed to challenge the best while offering a course that members can enjoy daily. The design team took advantage of the natural topography keeping in mind the Louisiana Wetlands that surround this challenging design.

#1 - PAR 4

CADDIES NOTES:
The opening hole is a challenging par 4 requiring a precise drive to avoid the pine hammocks and native grasses on both sides of the fairway. An elevated green protected by several bunkers makes par on this opening hole a great score.

#2 - PAR 4

CADDIES NOTES:
Players will pay a heavy toll for missing this fairway. Bunkers protect both sides of the fairway adding to the fear of out of bounds right and native grasses left. A two tiered green with bunkers on either side make getting close to this flag quite a task.

#3 - PAR 5

CADDIES NOTES:
At 673 yards and the longest par 5 in the state, this hole demands three great shots to have a chance at birdie. Control over distance and spin on approach are required to keep the ball on this slightly elevated, narrow green.

#4 - PAR 4

CADDIES NOTES:
Do not be deceived by the length of this hole, as accuracy is a must. Lay up with a fairway wood or hybrid to avoid most of the trouble. Missing short and right is the play as left and long of this green can be disastrous to a players score.

#5 - PAR 3

CADDIES NOTES:
The par 3’s at University Club are some of the hardest in the state and this hole gets it all started. Anything short will be in the hazard that protects the front of this green. Long left is your miss, but there are no guaranteed pars on this hole. Missing the green leads to an extremely difficult up and down.

#6 - PAR 5

CADDIES NOTES:
With water on the right and bunkers on the left, the fairway is necessary in order to guarantee an easier approach. The option to go for the green in two is available with a good tee shot, but is the reward worth the risk? The water running across the fairway will make each player choose their lay up shots wisely. Hitting into this long, skinny green requires accuracy due to the grass hollow left and water protecting the right.

#7 - PAR 4

CADDIES NOTES:
This long par 4 is protected by pine hammocks and native grass on either side of the fairway. The real challenge begins after reaching the green. This very undulated green makes it difficult to judge speed because of the severe and subtle slopes.

#8 - PAR 3

CADDIES NOTES:
This intimidating tee shot urges players to miss right and avoid the water hazard. With the addition of the bulkhead running along the front edge of the green, hitting it close to this hole is no small task. This breathtaking hole will be a challenge for all skill levels.

#9 - PAR 4

CADDIES NOTES:
The left side of this slight dogleg is protected by native grasses and pine hammocks. Hitting the fairway in essential in holding this green. The undulations in this green make chipping it close extremely difficult. A great putt will be required to save par.

#10 - PAR 4

CADDIES NOTES:
One of the longest par 4's on the course requires an excellent tee shot to set up your second. With a bunker protecting the left side of the fairway and tall native area right; no errant tee shot will go unpunished. Distance control will come into play on the approach due to the fall off areas on either side of this green. Par is a great score to start off your back nine.

#11 - PAR 5

CADDIES NOTES:
A challenging par 5 which demands accuracy. Distance control will be key to avoiding a big number. Water in front and right of this elevated green should persuade players to miss left. Getting up and down is no small task with this extremely sloped green.

#12 - PAR 4

CADDIES NOTES:
Narrow fairway protected by bunkers and pine hammocks make accuracy, not distance, the focal point on this hole. Two precise shots will give you a chance at birdie, but there are no guarantees with this demanding, narrow green. Subtle slopes make this one of the most difficult greens on the course.

#13 - PAR 3

CADDIES NOTES:
Take advantage of the lack of trouble on this hole. A solid mid to long iron to the middle of the green gives players a chance to roll in a long putt. Getting overly aggressive could leave a difficult up and down due to bunkers around this green.

#14 - PAR 4

CADDIES NOTES:
This challenging par 4 is protected by water down the left and native grasses on the right. A precise tee shot is necessary to have an approach from the fairway. A challenging back right pin location can make par an excellent score for any player.

#15 - PAR 4

CADDIES NOTES:
Being the shortest par 4 on the course does not make it as easy as it seems. Trouble on both sides of this narrow fairway protects it from long hitters, but with distance and control this green could be reached off the tee. With the elevated green running away from the hole on both sides, leaving a full shot in will allow players the opportunity to get closer to this hole.

#16 - PAR 3

CADDIES NOTES:
Distance is not the only intimidating factor on this hole. Water down the right side and out of bounds left contribute to the difficulty of this hole. Once on the green, players must deal with severe undulations making par here feel like a birdie.

#17 - PAR 5

CADDIES NOTES:
An excellent scoring opportunity, the shortest par 5 on the course gives players a chance to recover from the difficult stretch of holes behind them. Stay right to avoid the water on both tee shot and second shot. A well controlled third shot allows players to have a good look at birdie.

#18 - PAR 4

CADDIES NOTES:
THE GAME CHANGER. Hitting the fairway on the longest par 4 on the course is a must due to the trouble surrounding this fairway. The right side is the only place to miss the green due to the water running the length of the left side. Hitting the course’s largest green in two does not guarantee a par. Four is a great score on this monster of a hole. Truly, one of the best finishing holes in golf.
